Health Action Information Network (HAIN) is a non-profit non-government organization established in 1985 based in Quezon City, Philippines. It is involved in health education and research; and mainly works with community-based organizations involved in health and development. Our work covers a wide range of health issues with emphasis on reproductive health (including prevention of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and other reproductive tract infections); environmental health, and the appropriate use of medicines.

The AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC) is a community and consumer based organization, founded in December 1995 to accelerate the ethical development and global delivery of vaccines against HIV/AIDS. We provide independent analysis, policy advocacy, public education and mobilization to enhance AIDS vaccine research and development.

Important progress is being made in the search for HIV vaccines. Investment in research and development (R&D) has increased considerably in recent years to over $500 million annually, with research and development now being conducted by researchers from academic, not-for-profit, public and private institutions. More than 30 vaccine candidates are currently in trials, the majority in small early stage clinical trials. IAVI’s scientific program researches and develops vaccine candidates by directing and financing partnerships with more than 30 private companies and academic and government agencies worldwide. IAVI manages a portfolio of R&D projects, prioritizing vaccine concepts and candidates given the latest science.

CAPS′s Technology & Information Exchange Core (TIE Core) uses innovative vehicles to make HIV prevention science useful to service providers, policy makers, and the public. The TIE Core pioneers technologies for synthesizing, translating and rapidly disseminating prevention science to all those involved in the battle against HIV. The TIE Core also brings knowledge from the practice of HIV prevention to bear on CAPS research.
